Jonathan C. “Jon” Ford, 44, of Newport, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Harrisburg UPMC Hospital.
Born October 7, 1979 in Fairfax, Virginia, he is a son of Sharon P. (Perry) Ford of Newport and the late Gerald E. “Butch” Ford, Jr.
He is survived by four siblings, Michele Auxt (Gary) of Duncannon, Patricia Hostler (Arch) of Newport, Lynette Yohn (Tim) of Mifflintown, and Pat Ford of Newport, nieces and nephews, Skyler Robinson (Maverick), Luke Auxt, Scott Hostler (Emily), Victoria Williams (Lamar), Nicole Hostler, Shania Graybill (Zack), Aimee Yohn, and Ashley Yohn, two great-nieces, Aubree and Violet Williams, and his dog, Athena.
He graduated from Newport High School in 1998 and attended HACC.
Jon worked in many local restaurants in various capacities, including at Stop 35, Pizza Grill in Camp Hill, and his last job was as a bartender at Mountain Stone Inn, New Bloomfield.
He loved cars and cooking and was always helping and encouraging people, especially immigrants, whom he also sponsored.
Following his wishes, he is being cremated. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 21 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 811 Shermans Valley Road, New Bloomfield, PA 17068 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Rev. Robert Sharman officiating. Interment will follow in Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.
