Johnny L. Beward

     Johnny L. “Pops” Beward, 64, passed away Sunday, Dec. 29, 2019 at Harrisburg Hospital, surrounded by his family.

     Born Dec. 20, 1955 in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Donald E. and Margaret “Peg” Beward, Sr.

     He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Lydia D. (Swab) Beward, whom he married Nov. 18, 1978; three sons, Gary Beward and wife, Kelly, of Thompsontown, Jason Beward and wife, Chasity, of Mifflintown, and Nick Beward and wife, Bethanie, of Mifflin, and seven grandchildren, Elizabeth, Mason, Grace, Thea, Landon, Brea, and Camden.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald E. “Tink” Beward and Donald E. Beward, Jr.

     Johnny worked at Treen Box and Pallet, Mifflintown.

     He enjoyed hunting, cutting wood, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, vacationing with his closest friends, and spending time with his best furry friend, Rocky.

     His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2020, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Vicar Samuel J. Leister officiating. Interment will be in St. Stephen’s Lutheran Cemetery, Licking Creek Valley.

     There will be a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
