John S. Berrier, Sr., 87, of Mifflin, passed away Monday, May 18, 2020, at Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin.
Born September 14, 1932, in Nook, Juniata County, he was a son of the late Stanley H. “Todd” and Edna (Stong) Berrier Sr. His late wife, Mary M. (Beward) Berrier, whom he married January 12, 1953, died on June 28, 2016.
He is survived by two sons, John S. Berrier Jr. and wife, Trudy of Mifflin, and George S. Berrier and wife, Tina, of Mifflintown, five grandchildren, John “Wessie” Berrier, Jeffrey Berrier, Amanda Berrier, Angie (Berrier) Dressler and Amy Berrier, eleven great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild on the way, and eight siblings, Vivian E. Fry of Mifflintown, Dolores Shearer of Loysville, Virginia Paden of Mifflin, Mary Seiber of Elliotsburg, Shelby Trego of Newport, Stanley Berrier Jr. of Mifflin, Barry Berrier of Mifflintown, and Bonnie Baumgardner of Oriental.
He was preceded in death by one son, Gerald L. “Jerry” Berrier, one grandson, Jason Berrier, and one brother, Donald Berrier.
He operated heavy equipment for construction and worked for DE Smith and Jay Fulkroad and Sons.
He enjoyed running equipment, hunting, camping.
His graveside memorial service and interment at Union Cemetery, Mifflintown, with Pastor Wyatt Taylor officiating will be private.
