Joe Emerick Benner, 86, of Mifflintown, passed away May 2, 2025, at his home.
Born Feb. 6, 1939, he was a son of the late Paul C. and Marion (Emerick) Benner.
He is survived by his wife, Connie (Cameron) Benner, whom he married Dec. 27, 1958, two sons, Steven P. Benner (Alicia Spence) of State College and David C. Benner (Tina) of Highlands Ranch, CO, six grandchildren, Grace Benner Kim (Wooseok), Will Benner, Max Benner, Claire Benner, Audrey Benner and Rachel Benner and one great-granddaughter, Margot Kim, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Polly Benner Anderson, Paul Charles Benner II, and John Raymond “Jack” Benner.
Joe was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
He was a lifelong car dealer and also worked at Standard Steel for 25 years as an electrician.
He was a member of the Westminster United Presbyterian Church, Mifflintown, where he served as an elder and a trustee. He was also a member of Union Lodge #324 F&AM, and Tall Cedars of Lebanon Juniata Valley Forest #88 and a former director of Juniata Valley Bank.
Joe loved the outdoors, hunting, camping at Black Moshannon, and time with extended family. He dearly loved his grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
His memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 17 at Westminster United Presbyterian Church, Third and Lemon Streets, Mifflintown, with Rev. Nancy McClure officiating. There will be no viewing.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Westminster United Presbyterian Church, 208 Lemon St., Mifflintown, PA 17059 or the Juniata County Food Pantry, PO Box 44, Mifflintown, PA 17059.
