Janet Louise Strausburg DeArment went into God’s care on Sunday, Oct. 17, 2021, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born Aug. 16, 1943 in East Waterford, she was a daughter of the late William and Florence (Hockenberry) Strausburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Gene DeArment, one daughter, Latrenda Sward, one brother, Franklin O. Strausburg, and her grandson, Kyle Blose.
She is survived by six children, Teresa Strausburg Baum, Brian Bryner and wife, Deb, Lori Kline and companion, Gary Lynn, Clint DeArment and companion, Lisa Hyre, Leah Small and husband, Danny, and Lisa Hernandez and husband, Eric, three siblings, Mary Burdge, Emma Kauffman and husband, Robert “Bobby”, and Robert Larry Hockenberry and wife, Judy, 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Janet loved all of her family very deeply and was always a source of encouragement. She welcomed everyone with open arms.
She had a passion for Bingo and enjoyed many other games. She loved listening to country music while singing along.
She was dedicated to her volunteer job at JC Entertainment for ten years and worked very hard at everything she did.
She leaves a huge empty space in her family who will miss her dearly.
Her funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 22, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Pastor Judy Rowles officiating. Interment will follow in East Waterford Cemetery.
There will be a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 21, at the funeral home.
