Howard "Don" D. Kauffman

     Howard “Don” Kauffman, 84, of Mifflintown, passed away Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023 at Greenwood Village, Lewistown.

     Born Feb. 14, 1939 in Mifflintown, he was a son of the late Ralph and Sara (Gill) Kauffman.

     He is survived by one daughter, Deborah Kirk of Mifflin, one son, Randy Kauffman and wife, Mary of Mifflintown, one step-daughter, Donna Laughlin and husband, Dan, of Mifflintown, one step-son, David Hampton of Mexico, his former son-in-law, Andy Boyden of Lewistown, one granddaughter, Tammy Kirk Swartz and husband, Nate, five step-grandchildren, Dana and Dave Hampton, Bruce, Danny and Sadie Laughlin, three great-grandchildren, Jensen Swartz Hart and husband, Kyle, Marley Swartz, Brock Swartz, and one step-great-granddaughter, Freya Laughlin.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaretta B. (Garman) Kauffman on March 27, 2007, his second wife, Virginia M. (Huff) Hampton on Sept. 12, 2017, one grandson, Ronald Kauffman, and six siblings, Ralph, Jim, Dale, Betty, Jenette, and Marion Kauffman.

     Don was a carpenter who worked on construction. He retired from Manbeck Construction.

     He was a member of Mexico Full Gospel Mission.

     He loved hunting, being outdoors, and spending time with Remmy, his big white dog.

     His funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2023, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Rev. Charles McKee officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Mifflintown.

     There will be a viewing from 10 a.m. until the time of the services Thursday at the funeral home.
