Hazel F. Keister, 90, of Thompsontown, passed away Monday, May 11, 2026, at her home.
Born April 7, 1936, in Woodlawn, she was a daughter of the late Henry C. and Martha P. (Williams) Welshonse. Her husband, Morgan “Jim” Keister, whom she married May 30, 1959, passed away on Nov. 27, 2011. Their son, Rodney Clarence Keister, died Jan. 15, 1962.
She is survived by one daughter, Tammy L. Elsasser and husband, Daniel, of Thompsontown and one granddaughter, Megan N. Elsasser.
She was the last of her generation, having been preceded in death by two brothers, John “Jack” Welshonse, Sr., and William Welshonse and six sisters, Bertha Snavely, Dorothy Burns, Donna Baughman, Betty Welshonse, June Welshonse, and Louise Delancey.
Hazel graduated from Tuscarora Valley High Shool in 1954 and worked as a seamstress at Lyons Fashions in McAlisterville and in the deli at Weis and Schlegel’s.
She was a member of Thompsontown Methodist Church.
She enjoyed reading, helping with outside yard work and especially spending time with her cat, Callie.
Her graveside service and interment at Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal with Pastor Terry Smith, officiating will be private.
