Harold F. “Mart” Harris, 96, of McAlisterville, passed away Monday, Dec. 19, 2022, at his home.
Born Aug. 28, 1926 in Walnut, he was a son of the late Delbert H. and Beulah Mae (Ehrenzeller) Harris.
He is survived by his wife of almost 14 years, Lorraine M. (Graybill) Ehrenzeller Harris, whom he married Feb. 14, 2009, four children, Bonita K. Harris, H. Craig Harris and wife, Susan, Douglas H. Harris and Mark A. Harris and wife, Kathy, two step-children, Crystal Miller and Steven Ehrenzeller and wife, Penny, one brother, Larry Harris and wife, Sally, seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and one step-great-grandson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois (Switzer) Harris, on March 31, 2002, and two sisters, Marian Wagner and Joanne Clark.
Mart graduated from Juniata Joint High School in 1945 and was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during WW II.
He was a bus driver for 52 years, driving for Potter Busing and owning and operating his own school buses. He also worked for Hilltop Oil during that time. He and his first wife owned and operated Harris Family Treat in Walnut for 13 years.
Throughout his life he was active in Lower Tuscarora Presbyterian Church, Westminster Presbyterian Church, and Brown’s United Methodist Church. He was a former member of the Mifflintown Lion’s Club.
Mart was a man who valued hard work and family. He enjoyed taking care of his yard, hunting, driving bus, and eating out with his friends.
His memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2022, at Brown’s United Methodist Church, 33762 RT 35 N, McAlisterville, PA 17049 with Pastor Kevin Brophy officiating. Interment will be in Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown, at the convenience of the family. There will be no public viewing.
