Glenn Allen “Al” Dressler, 88, of Lower Paxton Twp., Harrisburg, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at his home.
Al was born March 31, 1937 at Locust Run, and was the son of the late Glenn C. and Vesta M. (Wilson) Dressler.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marjorie (Naylor) Dressler, whom he married Nov. 15, 1958, two daughters, Terry Vennell, and husband, Don, Tracy Cioffi Arnold, and husband, Dave, three grandchildren, Ashley Wambold and husband, Mark, Frank Cioffi and Melissa Cioffi, two great-grandsons, Carter and Max Wambold, one sister, Dolores “Sis” Heimbaugh, several nieces and a nephew.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant sons, Ricky Allen and Barry Lee Dressler and one brother, Harold “Sonny” Dressler.
He graduated from Juniata Joint High School in 1955. On Nov. 16, 1955, he joined the United States Army and served with the NATO Forces in Izmir, Turkey. He was discharged on Nov. 2, 1957.
He was a Teletype Operator for the Bureau of Motor Vehicles for 11 years and worked 23 years as a Police Communications Officer with the Pennsylvania State Police at Troop "H" Harrisburg, retiring in 1996 from Newport barracks. He also retired from Muth & Mumma Dental Lab after 13 years.
He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Bressler, VFW Post 148, Harrisburg, Hunters & Anglers, and a life member of PSP Retiree Assoc.
Al loved cooking, hunting, the Philadelphia Phillies, the Kansas City Chiefs, NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt.
He loved spending time with his family, the computer and especially his great grandsons.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 1, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Pastor Jennifer Heikes, officiating. Interment will be in Locust Run Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded by the Juniata Co. Veterans Council.
His viewing will be on Monday, June 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
