Gerald G. “Jerry” Zook, Sr., 89, of Gill Road, Mifflintown, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020, at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.
Born January 22, 1931, in Licking Creek Valley, he was a son of the late John Chester and Sarah Maude (Houtz) Zook
He is survived by three children, Debra McKee and husband, Charlie, Gerald G. “Noon” Zook, Jr., and wife, Denise, and Joseph A. Zook and wife, Kathy, all of Mifflintown; seven grandchildren, Robert Zook, Jr. and wife, Kim, Brian Zook, Crystal Adams and husband, Kevin, David McKee and wife, Julene, Ken McKee and wife, Kim, Jason Zook and wife, Jen, and Shannon Fisher and husband, Jim; 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Margaret D. “Margie” Zook, on April 24, 2012, one son, Robert A. Zook, one grandson, Eric “Holmes” Zook, four brothers, Leona Zook, Carl Zook, Doran Zook, Wallace “Wally” Zook and one sister, Florence Gelnett.
Jerry worked as a carpenter, plumber, and electrician.
He was a member of Mexico Full Gospel Mission where he served as church treasurer for many years.
He enjoyed talking with people and watching TV where he checked the price of crude oil every day. He loved making peanut brittle and sharing it with others, and he liked to watch the neighborhood from his kitchen window. The most important thing to him was his family.
All services will be held at the convenience of the family with Pastor Britt Stimeling officiating. His private interment will be in Union Cemetery, Mifflintown. A memorial service is being planned for a future time.
