Gerald "Butch" E. Ford, Jr.

     Gerald E. “Butch” Ford, Jr., 75 of Newport, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023, at his home.

     Born July 16, 1947, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Gerald E. and Geraldine E. (Barton) Ford, Sr.

     He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sharon (Perry) Ford, whom he married December 31, 1966; five children, Michele Auxt (Gary) of Duncannon, Patricia Hostler (Arch) of Newport, Lynette Yohn (Tim) of Mifflintown, Jonathan Ford of Newport and Pat Ford of Newport, eight grandchildren, Scott Hostler (Emily), Victoria Williams (Lamar), Nicole Hostler, Shania Graybill (Zack), Aimee Yohn, Ashley Yohn, Skyler Robinson (Maverick) and Luke Auxt and one great-granddaughter, Aubree Williams.

     He was preceded in death by one sister, Patricia Carson.

     Butch was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from March of 1966 to March of 1970.

     He retired from AT&T as an operations manager.

     He was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, New Bloomfield and the Knights of Columbus.

     He enjoyed spending time with his family, reading and catching up with friends.

     A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 12, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 811 Shermans Valley Road, New Bloomfield, PA 17068 with Rev. Robert Sharman officiating. Interment will be in Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery Mifflintown where full military honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council.

     There will be a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 11 at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown and from noon until the time of the services Friday at the church. There will be a Knights of Columbus service.
