Evelyn M. Settle

     Evelyn M. Settle, 90, of Mifflintown, entered into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

     Born Dec. 1, 1932, in Reedsville, she was a daughter of the late Chester A. and Mary E. (Goodman) Leach.

     She is survived by four children, Steven Settle and wife, Kelley, Denise Zook and husband, Gerald Jr., Deborah Hower and husband, Michael, and Todd Settle, Sr. and wife, Ellen, one brother, James Leach and wife, Jeanice, 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

     She was preceded in death by her husband, George F. Settle, Sr., on May 14, 1995, two sons, George Settle Jr. and Dennis Settle, one grandson, Eric Zook, and three siblings, Doris Yoder, Michael Leach and Nancy Bryd.

     She retired from the Mifflin County School District where she was a custodian.

     Evelyn attended Mexico Full Gospel Mission Church and watched TV evangelist, Jimmy Swaggart.

     Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Rev. Charles McKee officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Mattawanna.

     There will be a viewing from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorials Processing, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105.
