Elizabeth "Cathie" Catherine (Hosie) Stong

     Elizabeth Catherine “Cathie” Stong, 72, of Port Royal, passed away Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026, at her home.

     Born June 30, 1953, in Wichita, Kansas, she was a daughter of the late William and Ellen K. (Cox) Hosie.

     She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Daniel C, “Newt” Stong, whom she married Dec. 27, 2001, one daughter, Christina Bender and husband, Josh, one son, Scott Wade and wife, Krystyna, six grandchildren, Aubrey, Dominic, Logan, Sophia, Amelia, and Benjamin, and two sisters, Linda Padezanin and Kim Heller.

     In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Doug Hosie.

     Cathie worked at the Harrisburg Police Department, as an events coordinator at the Penn Stater and the Scanticon in State College, and, at one time, was a reporter for The Times.

     Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren.

     Her memorial service will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
