Eldora M. Swailes, 77, of Lewistown, formerly of Mifflintown, passed away Monday, Sept. 20, 2021, at Ohesson Manor Nursing Home.
Born February 7, 1944, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Melvin James and Joyce (Swartz) Lyter.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Anthony P. “Tony” Swailes, whom she married Nov. 17, 1964, one daughter, Kimbra J. Swailes, one son, Timothy S. Swailes, one niece, Judy Hurrell, one nephew, Freddy Hurrell, and three grandchildren, Mandy Dobson, Shelby Swailes, and Lyndzie Swailes.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, David Paul Swailes and James Swailes, two brothers, Brady Lyter and Paul Lyter, and one sister, Roxie Hurrell.
Eldora was a homemaker who liked to watch TV, play Bingo, do cross stitch and spend time with her beloved dog, Evan. She was especially close to her daughter, Kim, and granddaughter, Mandy, who lovingly cared for her.
Her funeral service will be at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 23, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., Mifflintown with Thomas Grose officiating. Interment will be in Adams Cemetery at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Guss Funeral Home, Inc. 20 S. Third Street, Mifflintown to help the family with her final expenses.
