Edna “Jean” Pruitt Marshall, 73, of Mifflin, passed away peacefully at her home in Academia on Thursday, April 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born April 25, 1951 in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Edward B. and Margaret (Zeigler) Swartz.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Marshall, whom she married Oct. 15, 2011, three children, Melissa P. Taylor and companion, Paul Aitkin, of Lewistown, Richard L. Taylor Jr. and wife, Jamie, of East Waterford, and Debra J. Peterson and husband, Frank, of Mifflintown, one step-son, Dennis Marshall of Mifflin, seven siblings, Arthur Swartz, Donald Swartz, Madeline Donaldson, Mary Ranck, Harry Swartz and wife, Faye, John Swartz and wife, Brenda, Kathy Huss and husband, John, and her mother-in-law, Phyllis Hackenberger.
Also surviving are ten grandchildren, Ashley, Cody, Dylan, Preston, Brooke, Aaron, Mallory, Kylan, Nick and Melissa and thirteen great-grandchildren, Addelynn, William, Julianna, Kohen, Noah, Maverick, Finnley, Judah, Titus, Tristan, Anastasia, Blayze, and Symphony.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband, Ralph E. Pruitt, Sr., daughter, Angela J. “Angie” Sieber, brothers, Edward Swartz and James Swartz and her dog, Cooper.
Jean retired after working 40 years at Empire Kosher.
She was a member of Mexico Full Gospel Mission.
She enjoyed hunting, fishing, crocheting, gardening, playing board games, traveling, and going to camp on Friday nights, but most of all she loved spending time with her family, her grandchildren and her dog, Fez.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Rev. Charles McKee, officiating. Interment will be in Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.
There will be a viewing from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 22 at the funeral home.
