Dorothy Jean (Heimbaugh) Dunkle, 90, of Dillsburg, passed away peacefully Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025 at her home.
Born April 6, 1935 in Walker Township, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Marshall and Nellie (Sheerer) Heimbaugh.
On September 29, 1956, she married Ronald G. Dunkle who passed away on their 67th anniversary on September 29, 2023.
She is survived by four children, Karen Brouse and husband, David, Dean Dunkle, Dale Dunkle and wife, Tina, and Dwight Dunkle and wife, Catherine, one sister, Floe Hackenberger, ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Clarence, Jay, Harold “Skip”, Donald, Leroy, and Ralph Heimbaugh.
She graduated from Juniata Joint High School in 1953.
Jean worked four years at USF&G Insurance Company and cleaned businesses and houses for many years. She felt her most important job was raising her family.
She enjoyed baking, cooking, playing cards and putting puzzles together. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, often preparing Sunday and special occasions dinners for her extended family and friends.
In her words, “Most important is having God, family and friends in my life. Without them, life is nothing.”
Her private service will be held at the convenience of the family with interment in Locust Run Cemetery.
