Doris "Dorie" Mackneer Obituary

Doris K. “Dorie” Mackneer, 73, of Mifflintown, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loved ones.

Born July 22, 1949 in Mattawana, she was a daughter of the late Allen C. and Carrie (Miller) Johnson. Her beloved husband of 50 years, Larry N. Mackneer, whom she married Sept. 5, 1970, passed away on Jan. 12, 2021.

She is survived by Melissa Stains and her husband, Jamie and their family, and Nathan Myer and his family, who she treated as her adopted children. Also surviving are one brother, Marlin Johnson and wife, Judy, two sisters, Dorothy “Sis” Grove and husband, Bill, and Barbara Rothrock and husband, Bill, her sister-in-law, Naomi Johnson, good friends, Lynn Arnold, Linda Stains, Johnna Jacobs, Debbie Geedey, and Doris Varner, many nieces and nephews and many other close spiritual friends and others that she loved dearly.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin Johnson and Cecil Johnson.

She graduated from Lewistown High School in 1967 and retired from the banking business after 42 years of being a supervisor of bookkeeping. She also worked at Mac’s Clothing in Mifflintown.

Dorie was loved and respected by those who knew her for her genuine kindness, loving concern, and generosity. She loved serving Jehovah and did so faithfully for over 40 years. She truly cared about other people, as she thoroughly enjoyed helping others.

She loved her pets like they were her kids. Abby Jo, Frank, and Whiskers were spoiled rotten.

She enjoyed vacationing with her family, baking cookies with her sisters and cousin, and she loved shopping, as her nickname was Mrs. Shopper. She loved taking care of her friends and family, or just being with her friends and family, walking Abby, working outside in the yard, and keeping her home beautiful. And anyone knowing her knew that she loved the color purple.

She was truly an amazing woman, friend, great listener to those who needed it, and just a loving mother to all.

She wanted all to know that she would see us again with the resurrection hope, John 5:28,29.

Her memorial service will be Monday, June 19, 2023 at 6:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1125 US 522, Lewistown.
