Donna L. Zook, 83, of Mifflintown, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, April 3, 2021, at home of her sister, Esther Lauver, in McAlisterville.
Born on June 5, 1937, in Belleville, she was a daughter of the late David D. and Bertha (Glick) Zook.
She is survived by two brothers, Ray of Anderson S.C. and David and wife, Jeannie, of Bonita Springs, Fla, one sister, Esther Lauver of McAlisterville, and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl, John and Boyd, one sister, Mary Saner, four sisters-in law, Jean, Hulda, Doris and Mildred Zook, and two brothers-in-law, Elroy Saner and Rufus Lauver.
Donna was a graduate of Messiah Academy and Jr. College at Grantham. She gave two years of voluntary service at Youngways Hostel at Bulawayo, Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe).
She was a very active member of the Cedar Grove Brethren In Christ Church where she served as organist, Jr. Sunday school superintendent, church board member, youth leader and custodian. She volunteered as a sing-along pianist at Brookline Manor for 17 years.
She retired after nearly 40 years at Lyon Fashions, McAlisterville, beginning as a seamstress and concluding in management. She enjoyed working at Mast’s Greenhouse for several years.
She dearly loved her family and many friends whom she considered treasures. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, reading, music, singing in several groups, and quilting.
Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 8, at Cedar Grove Brethren In Christ Church with Pastor Ken Hepner officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
There will be a viewing at Cedar Grove Church on Wednesday, April 7 from 7 to 9 p.m., and one hour prior to the services Thursday at the church.
Mask wearing and social distancing are requested at all of the services.
