Donald F. “Donnie” NIman, 87, passed away Monday, April 12, 2021, at his home near Mifflintown.
Born April 1, 1934, he was born, raised and lived most of his life in the Mifflintown area. He briefly resided in Painesville, Ohio in the 50’s.
He is survived by four daughters, Dawn “Candy” Austin and husband, Tom, of Mifflintown, Diane “Cook” Strawser and companion, Kim Auker, of Thompsontown, Delma Sheaffer and husband, Zane, of Richfield, and Peggy Ramsey and husband, Kenny, of Mifflintown; his former wife, Peggy (Woomer) Niman Leach of Thompsontown, one sister, Mary Lou Snyder and husband, “Dutch,” of Strodes Mills, three grandchildren, Stephen B. Phillips, Heather Hackenberger Bennett, and Billie Hackenberger Mostoller, and three great-grandchildren, Dylan and William Reese, and Lennon Mostoller.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy Albert and Ida (Dreibelbis) Niman, and four siblings, Richard Niman, Rosetta Zeiders, Robert Niman, and Patsy Snyder.
He was an operator on the pipeline.
Donnie was a member of American Legion Post 298, VFW Post 5863, International Union of Operating Engineers Local 132 and Laborer’s Union Local 1058.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, shooting pool, spending time with his daughters and his friends, dancing, NASCAR, cutting trees and tending his yard, his ’64 Ford, stocking trout and kicking asses.
There will be a viewing for family and friends from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 18, 2021, followed by a service at 3 p.m. at the Port Royal Lions Club, Lions Club Park Road, Port Royal, PA 17082. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
