Dawn G. “Sis” Sheaffer, 90, of Walnut, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born April 21, 1936, she was a daughter of the late John “Doc” and Betty (Shover) Paden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn A. Sheaffer on Jan. 24, 2012. They were married on Dec. 25, 1954. Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Bill Paden and Skip Paden and one sister, Florence “Jean” Cramer.
She is survived by three children, Cindy Gray and husband, George, Crystal Burd, and Glenn A. “Duff” Sheaffer and wife, Manila, one sister, Sharon Arnold and husband, Brooks, one brother Lloyd, “Vic” Paden and wife, Faith, nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandsons.
Although Sis worked at Juniata Garment and Precisionware, she spent most of her life being a housewife and taking care of her family.
She enjoyed reading, knitting, and, at one time, was in a bowling league. She loved family gatherings, cookouts, and her cats.
Her funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Rev. Garrick Paden, officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Nook.
There will be a viewing from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, July 20, at the funeral home.
