Darwin B. “Pete” Fry, 86, of Mifflintown passed away peacefully to be with his Lord on Monday, September 5, 2022, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born March 17, 1936, in Mifflintown, he was the son of the late Blair A. and Helen F. (Sheerer) Fry.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Dolores “Dee” (Wise) Fry whom he married Jan. 30, 1954, five children, Stephen Fry, Wendy Davis and husband, Larry, Timothy Fry and wife, Karen, Chris Fry and wife, Robin, and Julie Fry and companion, Ron, 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and his loving cat, Puss.
He graduated from Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown, in 1954.
Pete worked at various jobs, but his best job was with the Juniata County School District as custodian at Mountain View Elementary School from which he retired June 4, 1999.
He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and sitting on the swing on his deck watching the deer, birds, and other wildlife. He loved family time, especially time spent with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His funeral service will be private and held at the convenience of the family at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown with Pastor Howard Houtz officiating. Interment will be in Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.
The family will provide all flowers. In lieu of flowers, they ask that you do something kind for someone in memory of Pete.
