Corinne M. “Chicken” “Sis” McLaughlin,84, of Mifflintown, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Celebration Villa, Reedsville.
She was born Jan. 14, 1939 in East Waterford.
She is survived by two children, Debra K. Henry of Port Royal and Scott A. McLaughlin (Bunne) of Mifflintown, two siblings, Judy Nace of McAlisterville, and Donald Gussler (Shirley) of Lewistown, two brothers-in-law, Larry Winey and Bob Benner, five grandchildren, Michael Henry, Bethany Henry, Alisha Brown, Lauren McLaughlin, and Spencer McLaughlin, and six great-grandchildren, Griffin, Isabella, and Quinnleigh Henry, Aria and Cameron Brown, and Carson Bryan.
Her husband of 56 years, Clarence W “Mac” McLaughlin, whom she married on July 28, 1959, passed away on April 9, 2015. Also preceding her in death were her father, Oliver Hockenberry, her mother, Stella B. Hockenberry Leach, three siblings, Bob Hockenberry, Bill Hockenberry, and Bonnie Benner, two brothers-in-law, Sam McLaughlin and Harry Nace and one sister-in-law, Ruth Winey.
She graduated from Juniata Joint High School in 1957. She worked many years as a bookkeeper. She and her husband also owned and operated Mac’s Clothing in Mifflintown.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Mifflin, the Capitol City Polka Dancers, and the Red Hat Society.
She played tennis and often traveled to compete in the Senior Games. She also enjoyed playing softball, golfing, square dancing, polka dancing, country line dancing, playing cards and going to the casino.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 2 at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Pastor Dan Winey officiating. Entombment will follow in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.
There will be a viewing on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
