Connie A. (Rice) Gloss Swartz

     Connie A. (Rice) Gloss Swartz, 75, of Port Royal, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.

     Born Nov. 22, 1946, in Tuscarora, she was a daughter of the late Harold A. “Henny” and Ethel A. (Leister) Rice. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 41 years, Harold David Gloss, Sr. and is survived by her second husband, Arthur M. Swartz, whom she married June 7, 2008.

     Also surviving are one son, Harold David Gloss, Jr. and companion, Sandy Reed, two step-sons, Steven Swartz and wife, Laura, and Dennis Keith Swartz and wife, Hettie, one step-son-in-law, Tony Segina, five siblings, John Rice, Richard Rice and wife, Valerie, Janet Zeiders and husband, Steve, Hazel Rauch and companion, John Lehman, and James Rice, a sister-in-law, Trish Rice, a brother-in-law, Denny Pannebaker, four step-grandchildren, and her beloved dog, Jenny.

     She was also preceded in death by a step-daughter, Sherry “Sissy” Segina, one brother, Dave Rice, one sister, Cindy Pannebaker, and one brother-in-law, Gary Rauch.

     Connie graduated from Juniata Joint High School. Although she had several jobs, her main one was caring for people in their homes and cleaning.

     She was a member of Mexico Full Gospel Mission where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir.

     She enjoyed baking, especially pies, canning and helping on the farm. She was a wonderful wife and mother.

     There will be a viewing at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown on Friday, June 3 from 10 to 11 a.m. with a funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Charles McKee officiating. Interment will be in East Waterford Cemetery.
