Christine W. Symmerman, 74, also known as Jane Eileen Taylor, of Thompsontown and formerly of Liverpool, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026, at her home.
She was born in Newport on May 21, 1951.
She is survived by two daughters, Wendy S. Hawse (Jeff), and Sheri L. Bowersox (Pernell), one sister, Ruth Ann Keiffer, two brothers, Raymond Rheam and John Rheam, and three grandchildren, Lauren Klingman, Brian L. Bowersox (Abby), and Rachel L. Murdick (Aiden).
She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Symmerman, Jr. on Sept. 3, 2025, her father, William Leonard, her mother, Mary Etta (Swailes) Earls, her grandmother, Sadie Mae Swailes, and her adoptive parents, Kenneth and Dorothy Taylor.
Christine graduated from Greenwood High School in 1969 and worked as an LPN. She was a homemaker and cared for her husband since 2005.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Newport, and the 4 Seasons Senior Center, Mifflin.
She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, doing word searches, and spending time with family and friends.
There will be a visitation at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, March 6 with a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Samuel Leister officiating. Interment will be in Locust Run Cemetery. Interment will be in Locust Run Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the 4 Seasons Senior Center, 56 Jam House Road, Mifflin, PA 17058.
