Charles S. “Charlie” Walton, 70, of Thompsontown, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2020, at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.
Born Jan. 4, 1950 in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Chester M. and Minnie M. (Swailes) Walton.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia “Pat” (Grissinger) Walton, whom he married Feb. 26, 1972, four children, Charles Walton Jr. and wife, Stacy, Thomas Walton and wife, Michelle, Gregory Walton and wife, Sabrina, and Jason Walton and wife Kimberly, seven siblings, Gerald Walton and wife, Kate, Betty King, Jack Walton and wife, Dale, John Walton and wife, Mary, Linda Borger and husband, Richard, Robert Walton and wife, Brenda, and Ruth Anderson and husband, Eric, nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Warren Walton, and one half-brother, Paul Walton.
He worked as a correctional officer/911 dispatcher at the Juniata County Jail.
Charlie was active in Juniata County emergency services for approximately 40 years. He served as an EMT at the Thompsontown Ambulance League for 30 years and was at Fayette and other companies as well.
He was member of the Thompsontown Fire Company and the AMVETS. He was a driver for the Amish since 1969.
He enjoyed camping with his family and bringing home bargains from flea markets and yard sales. He loved spending time with all his family and his grandchildren.
Because of the COVID-19 restrictions, there will be a graveside service at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, at Locust Run Cemetery with Pastor Caleb Burd officiating. Interment will follow in the cemetery. There will be no public viewing.
