Bruce A. Kirk, 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022 at his home in Port Royal.
Born July 16, 1936, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Clair and Helen (Whitebread) Kirk.
He is survived by his wife, Roma (Fisher) Kirk, whom he married June 1, 1957, one son, Rob Kirk and wife, Debra, of Port Royal, his daughter-in-law, Wendy (Henry) Kirk, widow of his son, the late Steve Kirk, of Port Royal, two sisters, Audrey Hunker and Norma Leach, both of Mifflintown, four grandchildren, Danielle Keefer and husband, Bill, Chad Kirk and wife, Teagan, Dustin Kirk and Caleb Kirk, two great-grandchildren, Paislee Kirk and Rory Kirk, and his sister-in-law, Faye Kirk of Shermansdale.
In addition to his parents and son, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Jeffrey Albert Kirk, five siblings, Donald Kirk, Gary Kirk, Betty Love and her husband, Mel, Becky Rowles and her husband, Gary, and Lana Kay Kirk, and his brother-in-law, Joe Leach.
Bruce graduated from Juniata Joint High School.
He was a retired painter who had worked for W.L. Shoemaker, Perry Kint, and Greg Watkins.
He was a member of the Juniata Co. Sportsmen’s Association. He was a former Boy Scout leader and a member of Monaken Lodge Order of the Arrow.
He enjoyed golf, morning trips to Point Service Station, bowling, trap shooting, .22 shooting, fishing, going on bus trips, softball and go-kart racing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec.7, 2022, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Rev. Don Walters officiating. Interment will be in East Waterford Cemetery.
There will be a viewing from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third Street, Mifflintown.
