Blossom Ranck Obituary

In Loving Memory of Blossom Elaine Ranck

Blossom Elaine Ranck, born on January 27, 1943, in Liverpool, Pennsylvania, to Mary Jane and Glenn Billow, began life in the oldest house in Liverpool, PA. She was the middle child among her five siblings and grew up in a close-knit family that instilled in her the values of love, hard work, and community. She passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023 at Brookline Manor at the age of 80.

Blossom graduated from Greenwood High School in 1960 at 17. After graduation, she began work at Prudential Insurance Company, where she quickly established herself as a dedicated and reliable professional.

On February 14, 1964, Blossom married Jerauld Ranck. Blossom and Jerry had two sons, Jody, born in 1964, and Joel, born in 1968. When she became a mother, she made the decision to stay at home and raise them. She once told them, “My job is to give you wings, and yours is to fly.”

After a few years as a stay-at-home mother, She took on various roles, including a position at Juniata Valley Bank and a part-time job with the Recorder of Deeds Office. It was during this time that Clyde Bomgardner offered her a position in his law office. She thrived there, dedicating 23 years to Attorneys Bomgardner and Winder as a legal secretary before joining the Law Firm of Rhoads & Sinon, where she worked for another eight years before ultimately retiring.

In addition to her professional endeavors, Blossom was a Worthy Matron of Eastern Star, a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, a dedicated volunteer for Union Cemetery, serving as its Secretary, and a skilled multitasker.

Beyond her work, Blossom found joy in her hobbies, which included knitting and baking. Her creations and homemade treats were a source of comfort and delight for her family and friends.

Blossom's legacy is not only one of professional excellence but also a testament to her unwavering love and devotion to her family. She leaves behind a beautiful tapestry of memories, and her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jerauld Ranck, sons Dr. Jody Ranck and Joel Ranck (Gisell), three grandchildren (Masara, Noah, and Yilmer), two brothers Frederick (Jay) and Kim, sister-in-law Barbara. She was preceded in death by her mother Mary Jane Billow and father Glenn Billow, sister Glenda Billow, brother Brian Billow, and brother-in-law, Charles Griffeth.

An Eastern Star service will be held at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Mifflintown on November 11 at 2:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at the church. The interment in Union Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to support the Aldersgate United Methodist Church stair lift fund, 109 N. Third St., Mifflintown, PA 17059.
