Anthony P. “Chuckles” Swailes, 84, of Lewistown, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Greenwood Village, Lewistown.
He was born July 28, 1941 in Maitland and was raised by his late grandparents, Harry and Carrie Swailes. His wife of 57 years, Eldora (Lyter) Swailes, whom he married Nov. 17, 1964, passed away Sept. 20, 2021.
His survivors include one daughter, Kimmy Swailes, one son, Timothy Swailes, a niece, Judy Hurrell, a nephew, Freddie Hurrell, and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, David Paul Swailes and James Swailes.
He was a veteran who served in the United States Army.
He worked in water maintenance for the Lewistown Municipal Authority.
He was a life member of the Juniata County Sportsmen’s Association and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching sports on TV.
His service will be private with interment in Adams Cemetery, Mifflintown.
