Anita Y. (Richardson) Thatcher

     Anita Y. Thatcher, 79, of East Waterford, passed away Sunday, February 6, 2022, at UPMC Union Deposit, Harrisburg.

     Born Sept. 24, 1942 in Willow Run, She was a daughter of the late Clarence P. and Nellie (Hurrell) Richardson. Her loving husband of 59 years, Norman B. Thatcher, whom she married June 24, 1950, passed away May 1, 2020.

     She is survived by, one daughter, Gloria Ann Thatcher-Miller and wife, Heidi, of Mechanicsburg, two grandchildren, Jason Kyle Shetron of Mifflintown and Baylor Brooks Thatcher-Miller of Mechanicsburg, one great-grandson, Adam Bradley Chambers, five siblings, Rosa Clayton, Ruby Yohn and husband, Eugene, Dollie Ewalt and husband, Robert, James Richardson and wife, Jeannie, and Tammy Hurrell and husband, Vance.

     She was preceded in death by two daughters, Brenda Lee Shetron and Carolyn Sue Thatcher, three grandchildren, David Adam Shetron, John Clair Thatcher, and Diana Erin Shetron and three brothers, Stanley Richardson, Mike Richardson, and Rodney Richardson.

     Anita was a stay-at-home mother and homemaker as well as the manager for her husband’s business, Thatcher’s Plumbing and Heating.

     She was a very active member of Rock Assembly of God Church.

     She enjoyed her church work, reading, cooking, canning and her flowers. Anita cherished her family and friends and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

     Her funeral service was held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Third Street, Mifflintown, with Rev. Jerry Conley officiating. Interment was in East Waterford Cemetery.
