Shirley J. (Beverlin) Imes

     Shirley J. Imes, 82, of Mifflin, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2024, at her home.

     Born Nov. 27, 1941, in Walnut, she was a daughter of the late Donald and Bessie (Whistler) Beverlin.

     She is survived by her husband, Gary L. Imes, whom she married Sept. 13, 1973; four children, Kelly Yetter and husband, Nick, of Mifflin, Randy Peterson and wife, Kelli, of Newport, Pamela Harry and companion, Ray Thompson, of Shippensburg and Tammy Steensma of Oregon, one brother Roy C. Beverlin and wife, Kay, of Springville, NY, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Lee Beverlin and Harvey C. Beverlin.

     Shirley helped her husband on their dairy farm and she also was the head cook at Tuscarora Junior High School.

     She was a member of Lighthouse Community Church, Mifflintown.

     She enjoyed listening to county music, cooking, raking hay and taking care of the beef cattle, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren.

     Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 20, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Pastor Jeff Henry officiating. Interment will follow in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Nook.

     There will be a viewing from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
