     Harold Kurtz Kauffman, Jr., 64, of Mifflintown, passed away suddenly due to natural causes on Monday, June 2, 2019, at his home.

     He was born on May 8, 1955.

     Kurtz is survived by his parents, Harold K. and Sue (Portzline) Kauffman, Sr. of Mifflintown; one son, Joshua L. Kauffman of Mifflintown; one daughter, Holly E. Cabell and husband, Fredrick, of Millerstown; one brother, Jeffrey T. Kauffman of Mifflintown; and three granddaughters, Claire, Vivian and Charlotte Cabell of Millerstown.

     He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jennifer Kay Kauffman and his grandmother, Mary Irene Portzline.

     Kurtz attended Juniata High School and was baptized at the Pine Grove United Methodist Church.  He was an employed by Rockland Pallets.

     He loved spending time with his 3 granddaughters and talked about them all the time.  Kurtz was a lifetime member of the NRA and an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed spending time in the family orchard and riding his 4-wheeler on the ridge.  He was well known for growing the best tomatoes around and shared them widely.

     HIs funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Rev. Ronald Shupe officiating. Interment will be in Goodwill Cemetery, Bunkertown.

     Although there will be no viewing, the family will receive friends on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home.
