     Florence "Flo" A. Ranck, 96, formerly of Thompsontown, died Friday, April 5, 2019, at Richfield Senior Living Center.

     Born Aug. 28, 1922 in Thompsontown, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Tillie (Lantz) Freed. Her husband of 64 years, W. Fern "Pap" Ranck, whom she married on Dec. 24, 1940, died  on May 6, 2004.

     She is survived by four children, Janet Wolfe and husband, Ralph, of Carlisle, Jerauld L. Ranck and wife, Blossom, of Mifflintown, Jesse N. Ranck and wife, Gayle, of Thompsontown, and Jocelyn S. Ranck and companion, Page Line, of Carlisle, one sister, Janet Heath of Thompsontown, seven grandchildren, Sue Snavely, Dr. Jody Ranck, Rhonda Heiges, Joel Ranck, Rusty Pressley, Lee Beecher, and Wendy Wolfe Duncan, and fifteen great-grandchildren.

     In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother, Ruth Ehrenzeller, Kenneth Freed and Helen Lesher.

     She graduated from Thompsontown High School and was the  last member of the Class of 1940.

     She worked at many places but was mainly a short order cook in various area restaurants and retired in 1984 as head cook at Thompsontown Elementary School.

     She was the oldest member of Thompsontown United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Rebekahs and had been the treasurer of Thompsontown Boy Scout Troop 169 for many years.

     She enjoyed doing ceramics and decorating cakes. She loved gardening and providing food for her family, as well as for others.

     Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10 at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Pastor Andrew Burd-Harris officiating. Interment will be in Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Thompsontown.

     There will be a viewing from 10 a.m. until the time of the services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
