     Mary Ann Zook, 79, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018, at her home in Mifflintown.

     Born Aug. 10, 1939, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late J. Harold and Anne M. (Moore) Zook. She was the last member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by her brother, John H. Zook, Jr.

     Mary Ann graduated from Juniata Joint High School, Penn State University, and the University of Indiana. She accepted a position at Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY, where she taught music and music education.

     After retiring from Hartwick, she returned to Mifflintown where she taught piano to students of all ages in the local community.

     She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and of Delta Kappa Gamma.

     An accomplished musician, she served as organist and pianist for her church for many years and was involved in many musical activities in the community.

     Her cats were her pride and joy and she loved being with them. She also enjoyed visiting and calling her many friends.

     Her funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 10, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown with Pastor Denise Haskins officiating. Interment will be in Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.

     There will be a viewing on Monday from 10:30 until the time of the services at the funeral home.

I remember Mary Ann and her family as a young person growing up in Mifflintown and becoming a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. She was a very gifted musician and talented person. My sympathy to her family and friends. Charlene (Yeager)Swineford
