     Lester H. Eisenacher, 92, of Mifflintown, passed away at 7:55 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at his home in Licking Creek Valley surrounded by his loving family.

     Born August 13, 1925, in Harrisburg, he was a son of the late Charles E. and Anna Mae (Straining) Eisenacher. He was raised in Licking Creek Valley by the late Raymond and Betty Zimmerman.

     He is survived by his wife, Jeanne L. (Beale) Eisenacher, whom he married August 17, 1945, three daughters, Sherry A. Nipple and husband, Ernest, Susan R. Holderman, and Sandra K. Kell and husband, Richard, all of Mifflintown, seven grandchildren, Tracy Nipple, Melissa Haynes, William C. Holderman, Chad A. Holderman, Andrew Kell, Amy Berrier, and Alisha Kell, 23 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and one sister, Marianne McCann of Harrisburg.

     He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Timothy Nipple and Jeffrey Holderman,  one son-in-law, William E. Holderman, two brothers, Ronald Eisenacher and Charles Eisenacher, Jr., and one sister, Blanche Snyder.

     He graduated from Juniata Joint High School in 1944.

     A veteran of WW II, he served with the 447th Bomb Group in the 709th Bomb Squadron Eighth  Air Force in the European theater of operations. He was awarded an Air Medal.

     He worked at the American Viscose Corp. for six years and then was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Mifflintown for 33 years. He started as a clerk and soon became a rural delivery mail carrier.

     He was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Maple Grove Sunday School, American Legion Post 298, Mifflintown, and National Rural Letter Carriers Assoc.

     He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and vegetable gardening and especially spending time with his family.

     His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 9, at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, 8489 Licking Creek Road, Mifflintown, with Rev. Chris Mathiason and Rev. William Esborn, officiating. Interment will be in  St. Stephen's Lutheran Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council.

     There will be a viewing one hour prior to the services Monday at the church.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Maple Grove Sunday School, 6507 Licking Creek Road, Mifflintown, PA 17059.
