     Ralphetta J. Schlegel, 88, of Thompsontown, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, at Brookline Manor.

     Born June 3, 1928, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Edna (Goss) Weiand. Her husband of 58 years, Carl E. Schlegel, whom she married Dec. 29, 1947, died March 11, 2006.

     She is survived by three sons, Steven C. Schlegel and wife, Janet, of Lewistown, Larry R. Schlegel and wife, Debra, of Camp Hill, and Daniel J. Schlegel and wife, Carol, of McAlisterville, two brothers, Charles "Bob" Weiand and wife, JoAnn, and Fred Weiand and wife, Arlene, all of Thompsontown, three sisters, Iris Wilson and husband, Leon, of Manheim, Arlene Carter of Kansas City, Kansas, and Sandy Summers of Thompsontown, four grandsons, three step-grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, eight step-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.

     She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason L. Schlegel in 1997 and one brother, Gary Weiand.

     Ralphetta was a homemaker and attended Cedar Grove Brethren In Christ Church. She was a member of the Millerstown Moose, the Humane Society, and the Four Seasons Senior Center. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, doing jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles, and especially spending time with her family.

     Her service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, January 13, at Cedar Grove Brethren In Christ Church, 287 Deerville Road, Mifflintown with Rev. Ken Hepner officiating. Interment will be in Union Memorial Gardens, Mifflintown.

     There will be a viewing Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown and on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the services at the church.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Perry Co. Animal Rescue, 507 Sugar Run Rd, Millerstown, PA 17062
