     Lemuel J. Haines, Jr., 83, of Honey Grove, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at his home.

     Born June 23, 1933, in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Lemuel J. and Celia Harriet (Kuner) Haines, Sr.

     On September 5, 2014, he was preceded in death by his wife of more than 60 years, Suzette L. (Jaulet) Haines, whom he married on May 22, 1954.

     He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth C. M. Gibbons and husband, Larry Sr., of East Waterford, Danielle S. Kalinoski and husband, Joseph, of Honey Grove, and Michelle A. Bishop and husband, Dennis, of East Waterford; eight grandchildren, David C. Blessing, Nicole S. A. Leister, Roxanne M. Gibbons, Larry E. Gibbons, Jr., Joseph M. Kalinoski, James D. Kalinoski, Michael F. Kalinoski, and Makenzie S. A. Bishop; and six great-grandchildren, Devin J. Leister, Sean D. Leister, Adrian T. Bonilla, Jade E. N. Bonilla, Landon M. Gibbons, and Zakary D. Blessing.

     He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean War.

     He was a life-long farmer who enjoyed hunting, fishing, working the ground, raising animals, and Living in Juniata County since 1974.

     He was a member of the East Waterford Presbyterian Church and the Mifflintown American Legion.

     He enjoyed the outdoors and he enjoyed a good time. He was a great person with a kind, gentle spirit and a huge heart.

     There will be a viewing at the East Waterford Presbyterian Church on Saturday from 10 to 11:30 a.m., with a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. John Park officiating. Interment will be in McCulloch's Mills Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council. Following the interment, a luncheon will be provided at the East Waterford EMS.

     In lieu of flowers, those who desire are asked to make memorial contributions to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd, Ste 1010, Rockville, MD 20852 or to the American Cancer Society, 1375 Martin St., Ste. 206, State College, PA 16803.
