     Donald H. "Don" Meeks, 84 of Mifflintown, formerly of Philadelphia, died Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015, at Golden Living Center West Shore, Camp Hill.

      Born January 4, 1931, in Jermyn, Texas, he was the son of the late Floyd and Myrtle Meeks.

     He is survived by his second wife, Carla Meeks, whom he married on December 27, 1975; three daughters, Donna A. Sikes of Westminster, Colorado, Carol Rosengarten and husband, Brad, of Philadelphia and Kathy Packer of Westminster, Colorado; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

     He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Bonaduce, two sons-in-law, Joseph Sikes and Ted Packer, one step-granddaughter, three sisters and three brothers.

     He was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1949 to 1953.

     While living in Philadelphia, he worked at Virginia Donuts and at Southco Tool and Die. He operated Meek's Buses for the Juniata County School District until 1987.

     He enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, studying the Bible and helping others to learn the word of God.

     His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 21 at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Albert Gray officiating.  Interment will be in Lost Creek Presbyterian Cemetery, McAlisterville, where full military honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council.

     There will be a viewing from 1p.m. until the time of the services Monday at the funeral home.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105-1942 or to the American Cancer Society, 1375 Martin St., Ste. 206, State College, PA 16803.
