     Darwin E. "Doc" Zimmerman, VMD, 78, of Mifflin, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015.

     Born Aug. 25, 1937, near Mifflintown, he was a son of the late Lyman C. and Sara E. (Saylor) Zimmerman.

     He is survived by one daughter, Bianca A. Zimmerman of Mifflin, one sister, Verta Colyer and husband, Lloyd, of Port Royal, and two brothers, Delmar C. Zimmerman and Larry W. Zimmerman, both of Mifflin.

     He was preceded in death by one sister, Cynthia S. Glock.

     Doc graduated from Juniata Joint High School, Penn State University, and the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary School. He began his veterinary practice in1963, traveling to farms throughout six counties, until he retired in 2005.

     He was a member of the American and Pennsylvania Veterinary Associations and the Harvard-Radcliffe Club of Philadelphia.

     His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 31, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third Street, Mifflintown with Rev. Chris Mathiason officiating. Interment will be in St. Stephen's Lutheran Cemetery, Licking Creek Valley.

     There will be a viewing on Sunday, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
