What to do When a Death Occurs

We understand that the death of a loved one can be emotional and overwhelming.  The first step you need to take depends upon where the death occurs.  If it is in a nursing home, hospital, or at home with hospice care, the staff may contact the funeral home or help you make the call.  If the person is not under the care of a physician, the coroner may need to be contacted.  If you are in doubt as to what to do, call your funeral director and she will direct you.  The important thing to remember is that the immediate time following the death should be a time of mourning, but also one of celebration and remembrance of life.  Much of what needs to be done in regards to the funeral will be discussed and coordinated by the funeral director, who is here to serve you in your time of need.
